There are tons of yoga classes all over Chicago to help you get through the rest of winter. Our favorite way to heat up our bodies and destress our minds is yoga! Yoga can be beneficial for all sorts of winter blues from low moods to stiff joints and muscles. The lack of sun, bitterly cold weather, and general moodiness can be felt all over town. Other than that, the instructors here are fantastic and contrary to what shorttim said about not speaking in the studio, CPY is really relaxed and people freely converse, especially before the yoga sculpt class. Definitely get to this class early if you don't want to be situated in the front of the class! There is energetic music played during the class and it is not uncommon to do pushups, burpees and other intense drills of that nature to get your heart rate up. This is a faster-paced, hotter class and you will sweat buckets! If you go to yoga sculpt, dress as light as possible (shorts and a tank would be best). It is calm, quiet, dark, slow-paced and generally not crowded. If you are new to yoga I would start with their Intro to Power Yoga Candlelight class. I have done several of their classes as well as their 2-week boot camp. I've been doing yoga for over 10 years and recently belonged to this CPY location since they first opened (I left because I am pregnant).
